Teach this controversy!

“Teach the controversy” is an ad campaign dreamed up by the nice people at the Discovery Institute as part of their overall program to replace the teaching of science with Christian mythology, first by making it palatable by dressing it up as science. (Though “We can’t figure out how the universe was created, so shucks, let’s stop worrying about it and say that it was G… oops, I mean, the Designer! – who did it!” doesn’t sound much like a scientific approach to me.)

The idea, of course, is to suggest that there is some kind of scientific controversy and then appeal simultaneously to the sense of fairness and the scientific illiteracy of the public with pleas to teach “both sides” of the issue.

And now you can help with new line of t-shirts. Although, they didn’t stop at just one controversy. This one is my favorite:

But does buying them mean supporting nutjobs or anti-nutjobs?
