Stupid is as stupid says

It’s always refreshing when your opponents say such amazingly stupid things that it seems as though any reasonably sane person would hear them and think, “These people are fucking lunatics.” Like this:

The Minnesota Family Council says it will introduce an amendment banning same-sex marriage, civil unions and domestic partnerships in Minnesota in the next few days. The group announced the new amendment push at a press conference with fundamentalist religious leaders on Tuesday.

Those leaders put forward a multifaith diatribe against gay and lesbian relationships stating that should gays get the right to marry, the world would end.

“If everyone is a gay, this world will cease to exist in 10 years,” said Ikram ul-Huq, the imam and religious director of the Muslim Community Center of Bloomington.

Joining the imam was a leader from a Hasidic Jewish group. I think it’s nice that we can bring Jews and Muslims together, don’t you?

So that’s it – gay marriage means armageddon. “Cease to exist.” Nothing really open to interpretation there.

I think it’s fabulous that we can have these intelligent discussions about the role of religion in public life what rights the majority is required to allow minorities in this diverse democracy.

(Interestingly, if you click the link in the quote, you go to an Associated Press article on the event, which omits the imam’s “I’m so fucking crazy you can’t believe it” comment. Clearly part of that liberal media bias intended to belittle conservatives!)

hahaha, the “cease to exist” line is priceless. you know the reporter was laughing his ass off when he chose to include that quote.

on the plus side i have an exciting new justification for engaging in shameless debauchery – i’m just doing my part to counter the insidious gay plot to doom humanity.
