Hi there, and thanks for visiting my blog.

My name is John and I’m a 40-something Houstonian writing about pretty much whatever grabs my attention.

I started this blog back in 2003 as Logan Circle Guy, named for my Washington, DC neighborhood. I did it because I wanted to have a look at blog software and see what it was all about, and much to my surprise, people started reading it… and continued reading it… and so here we are.

I’ve grew up in New England, went to college in upstate New York, lived in Boston for years and then Washington, DC for years, before moving here to Texas five years ago. I suppose that informs my sensibilities somehow; I’ve loved everywhere I’ve lived in very different ways. If I had to call somewhere my real home – the place that feels like I belong – it would be DC. Which doesn’t mean I’m not very happy living here in Houston.
